Kerid ( Kerið ) is crater lake in Iceland. The lake is located in the western volcanic zone of the country, which includes the Reykjanes peninsula and the glacier Langyokutl ( Langjökull ), which is part of the famous tourist route "Golden Circle".
Lake Kerid ( Kerið ) like other volcanoes in this area does not consist of the usual black volcanic rocks and red. The width of the caldera, about 170 meters, its width is 270 meters, and the depth is 55 meters to go. Kerid is one of the most recognizable volcanic craters.
Kerið Crater Lake is one of the three most recognizable volcanic craters. Its age is about 3000 years old. The surrounding landscape is older nearly doubled. The steep slopes of the crater are covered with stunted vegetation, but one of the more gentle slopes and covered with moss.
The lake itself is quite small (7-14 meters, depending on rainfall and other factors), but due to the minerals in the water that comes from the soil, water and it is remarkably bright opaque, aquamarine color surprising.
If you move a little bit away from the volcano, along the path, we can see yet another amazing sight: the beauty of the earth under their feet will exceed all your expectations. The land is colored in black, red, pink and yellow, thanks to minerals. flickr/jen
