Abandoned railroad in Paris | Petite Ceinture

After the French Revolution in 1848, the economy experienced Paris a real upturn. Thus in 1852, the Chemin de fer de Petite Ceinture war build and ring railway line that encircled the then Paris. But the Metro and trams have quickly outstripped the Petite Ceinture. 1934 passenger was almost completely set, only a small piece of Auteuil to St Lazare station remained until 1996 in operation. Since the fifth July 1996 went no train along this route. With each new mayor come different plans for resuming operation of the Petite Ceinture, none of them, however, was implemented today. The railway line is enjoying it more and more visitors who balance walking along the rails.

The Petit Ceinture is something for all anti-tourists. It is frequented by locals like. Here (mainly) young and old meet for a Sunday stroll. There is a rail ring for squatting, spraying and walking. Depending on where you want to start, look for the next access to the route. Sometimes it's easy, usually does have to climb a small wall, to squeeze past on a fence or crawl up a hill. The internet also a lot of directions. However, a bit of French does not harm it. All details, including the background noise, you can also find the virtual tour on the  Petit Ceinture. flickr/Sami ALfisal
